Spiritually speaking - am I supposed to give a crap about Paula Abdul's blunder on American Idol?

I think sensationalism is popular, because people feel overwhelmed by the harsh realities of the world. That is not to say it doesn't devalue us in a way, but people are just trying to escape any way they can.
