NEVER give a pet as a gift unless you know definitely they are ready for a pet and really want it.It seems if your mom wanted another dog she would already have gotten it.For the rest,the 10 month old a large stuffed toy she can lay around on seems fine.When your mom said she needed a vacation she probably meant a weekend trip,could you swing that? Maybe a bed and breakfast stay for the weekend?Well for someone who loves reading a great book is a wanted gift,find one by her favorite author she hasn't read yet.For your dad how about a small painting by a local artist? Should be inexpensive.One of the best and loved gifts I have received it is done on a clam shell but is beautiful wildlife scene.Just some thoughts.
