When can i take a pregnancy test and what activites may be harmful if i am pregnant?

I think i may be pregnant but itz only been 6 days so how long before i can take a test? Also if I am pregnant what are things that are extremely harmful to the child [besides drinking smoking etc...] sn: this is my first pregnancy.
