Is there a way to convert my 120 outlet into a 240 for a clothes dryer. Maybe an adaptor?

I live in a rental and don't want to do anything permanent. Right now I have my electric dryer in a shed where there is an appropriate outlet. I'm tired of having to wade through the mud to get my clothes dry. There was a propane line for a dryer but the previous tenants removed it for some reason and the landlord refuses to fix it because it means he has to spend money.
